The Easter long weekend in 2015 is days away.
Each of the modern awards for the hospitality industry get the public holidays provided under the National Employment Standards. The NES lists:
- Good Friday;
- Easter Monday; and
- “any other day or part-day declared or prescribed by or under a law of a State or Territory to be observed generally within the State or Territory (or a region of the State or Territory) as a public holiday”.
In Victoria, the Public Holidays Act 1993 adds:
- ‘Saturday before Easter Sunday’; and
- Easter Sunday, under a pronouncement on 17 February 2015.
That means the Easter long weekend in Victoria carries four days of public holiday penalty rates.
For those outside Victoria, the public holidays over the Easter long weekend vary. Fair Work has a list for each main State and Territory.
