Sexual harassment in hospitality – podcast with Profitable Hospitality

Ken Burgin from Profitable Hospitality hosted me and Natasha Hawker from Employee Matters on a diverse conversation on sexual harassment in the hospitality industry.

The podcast kicked off after a cricketer made inappropriate comments to the journalist interviewing him.

Cricketer: “I wanted to come and have an interview with you as well. That’s the reason why I’m here, just to see your eyes for the first time. … Hopefully we can win this game and we can have a drink later. Don’t blush, baby.”

Journalist: “I’m not blushing.”

Neroli Meadows, an experienced sports journalist, said the cricketer’s conduct is “the tip of the iceberg” when it comes to sexism in sport.

Natasha brought insight that two men simply don’t have and spoke about her own experiences. Inappropriate conduct of a sexual nature occurs to women far more than men are aware or understand. Ken’s podcast, “Taking the Heat – Women Chefs and Overcoming Inequality” talks with the author of a detailed study into gender inequality in hospitality.
